We're a family, but we're also an organization. Using someone's given name is familiar in that context. Generally speaking, it's safer to use someone's surname until they tell you otherwise, especially with superiors. Most of my team and other members of Passione referred to me as Buccellati to show respect, but also to distinguish which Bruno they meant. There's more variation in Italian surnames than our given ones.

You have a little more flexibility in doing what you'd like in a position of authority as I've been. I could have referred to any member of my team however I wanted, but I've always tried to respect the preferences of the others.

You can call me whatever you're comfortable with, however. I don't mind.
